Hor Tamhuk, meaning house of weaving, is a stilt house akin to the Tai Lue long house spatial arrangement
It is located at Ban Duong, Saysettha District, Vientiane, beside rice fields and irrigation canals in an ancient catchment area
Hor Tamhuk is built with finely carved wood, 6m high 18 rosewood pillars and walls constructed with red bricks sourced from Vientiane’s earthen kilns
The natural contours of the land were followed for rainwater to cascade gradually, and a back garden was added to “soak” up water prior to affluent discharge
Restoration involved relocation of the salvaged building from Ban Boua, 40km away, and construction over 2022-23
